Most approaches to healing from birth trauma ask you to retell your story until it hurts less. This works differently.

Think of your nervous system like a filing system. When something overwhelming happens, the memory doesn't always get filed properly. It stays open, on repeat, setting off the alarm every time something reminds you of it. EMDR coaching and somatic mindfulness work together to help your nervous system finally file it properly. The memory doesn't disappear. It just stops running in the background.

Why an intensive? The intensive format exists because you deserve more than fifty-minute sessions stretched across months, or even years. We condense that work into one focused week, so that you stay in the work with momentum, instead of starts and stops that feel like they aren't getting you towards your goal.

I built this coaching intensive because I kept watching mothers outside of Canada fall through the cracks. The work I do isn't restricted by a license when it's delivered in a coaching format.

I know this personally. I planned a homebirth. Did all the prep. And then ended up with an emergency cesarean instead. The birth I had imagined and the one that actually happened, there was a big gap between them. And therefore a big gap between the motherhood I had envisioned, and the one I entered, which I had pictured as grounded and present, and arrived woven with anxiety instead.

I know what it's like to feel completely disconnected from the version of motherhood you thought you were stepping into. To feel the distance between who you were before the birth and who you are now. And I know what it's like to find your way back to yourself, not to who you were before, but to someone new who isn't still carrying that day.

That's exactly why this work exists. Not only to help you move toward your next pregnancy or your next birth feeling more confident, but to support who you get to be on the other side of it. Present. Grounded. Actually there.

We work with what your body is holding from the birth. Not by retelling the story, by working directly with the felt sense of it. Where it lives in your body. What it feels like when it gets activated. And how to support your nervous system to release what's been getting in the way of feeling confident and ready.

1:1 Intake Session

80 minutes

We map your goals and build your treatment plan together, where the memory lives, what triggers it, what you most want to walk into this birth feeling. You'll leave with a custom workbook for the week ahead. This session is about building safety. This time, you're not alone in the room.

3× 1:1 EMDR Coaching Sessions

5 hours each · Mon / Wed / Fri

Sessions run as two 2.5-hour blocks with a lunch break in between. We open with resourcing, building the inner foundation your nervous system needs before we go anywhere difficult. From there, we work with how the birth is living in your body right now, the fear, the dread, the way it's showing up in your day to day, and we support your nervous system to release what's been holding you back. We're not managing symptoms. We're preparing your body for what you actually want.

1:1 Integration + Follow-Up Session

80 minutes · 2 weeks after

We close the loop. We check what's shifted, what still needs attention, and prepare you for the birth ahead. You'll know what you actually want, not just what you're trying to avoid.

Before you decide.

I'm not pregnant yet. Is it too early?

No, this might actually be the ideal time. Working with what your nervous system learned from the last birth before you're pregnant means you get to step into your next pregnancy differently. From the beginning. Not playing catch-up once the fear is already louder.

I'm not sure I even want a VBAC. What if I'm planning another cesarean?

This work isn't about convincing you to have a VBAC or to get pregnant again. It's about making sure that whatever you choose, you're choosing it from clarity, not fear. Whether you're planning another cesarean, a VBAC, or just trying to feel okay about the idea of trying again, you deserve to move forward without your last birth writing the script.

I've already done therapy for this. Why would EMDR be different?

Talk therapy works on the story of what happened. This works on where the fear is actually stored, in your body. If you've done therapy and you can talk about your birth without falling apart, but your body still reacts when you think about getting pregnant or planning a VBAC, heart racing, chest tightening, dread, that's because your nervous system is still running the last birth as a threat. This work is designed specifically to reach that.

What if it makes things worse before my birth?

That's exactly why the intensive format matters. We don't open things up and leave you hanging. The consecutive sessions mean we move through the harder material together, with momentum, and close the loop before the week is done. You're not doing this alone, and you're not doing it in a way that leaves you more activated than when we started. Within each session, we have five hours together, enough time to open something, move through it, and bring your nervous system back to a place of genuine regulation before you leave for the day.

How much time do I need to clear during the intensive week?

Three days, each one five hours of processing time with a lunch break in the middle. The hope is that in between those days, you have spaciousness to care for yourself. To rest, to integrate, to be with what's moving through you. Think of it like a retreat you clear space for, not something you fit around a full schedule.

Is this therapy?

No. This is coaching. It draws on EMDR coaching and somatic mindfulness techniques, but it is not clinical treatment and does not replace therapy. We are working towards future goals, and if you are in acute mental health crisis or require clinical trauma therapy, please seek support from a licensed mental health professional. If you're in Canada and want clinical EMDR therapy, the EMDR Birth Trauma Intensive may be the right fit.

What if this doesn't work for me?

Although there are no gaurantees, EMDR is one of the most researched and effective treatments for trauma, evidence-based, not experimental. I can't guarantee your specific outcome. What I can tell you is that if you're here, reading this, something is already telling you that you're feeling called to do work on this.
